Circular Worlds Exchange
Specialist waste innovation. Global connections. Practical impact.
An emerging global marketplace for innovative equipment, digital tools and practical solutions for challenging waste management settings.
Some of the places with the greatest need for better waste management have the least access to suitable technology, reliable advice and ongoing technical support.
SPWC is developing Circular Worlds Exchange: a boutique digital marketplace connecting carefully selected innovators with organisations seeking practical solutions for remote communities, islands, international development programmes and disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
Our ambition is to become a trusted specialist destination for waste innovation—bringing together promising products, credible suppliers and the people who can put them to work.
We are now inviting expressions of interest from manufacturers, developers, inventors and technology partners.
What belongs in the Exchange?
We are interested in products and tools that solve a clear operational problem, particularly where conventional systems are difficult to deliver, maintain or afford.
Opportunities could include:
-
Modular and decentralised equipment: compact treatment, processing and resource recovery systems suited to smaller or dispersed populations.
-
Recycling and local manufacturing: technologies that turn recovered materials into useful products and support local enterprise.
-
Specialist waste solutions: equipment for healthcare, hazardous or other difficult waste streams, where performance and environmental safeguards can be demonstrated.
-
Organics and biological treatment: adaptable solutions for food waste and other biodegradable materials.
-
Disaster waste tools: deployable systems supporting assessment, segregation, safe handling, recovery and temporary operations.
-
Digital and AI tools: applications for waste audits, material tracking, logistics, maintenance, compliance, planning, training and operational decision-making.
-
Enabling innovations: tools that improve worker safety, repairability, monitoring, access to spare parts or operation in challenging conditions.
Innovation does not have to mean complexity. A simple, robust product that solves a neglected problem may be exactly what we are looking for.
Selected for practical value
Every opportunity will be assessed against its intended use and operating context. Our selection criteria will include:
A clear purpose
What problem does the product solve, for whom, and why is it suitable for that setting?
Credible performance
Claims should be supported by appropriate evidence, such as operating data, independent testing, customer references or documented trials. Development stage and limitations must be clearly stated.
Environmental and human safeguards
We will consider emissions, residues, worker safety, public health and the product’s wider environmental implications, as relevant to the technology.
Suitability for local conditions
Assessment will consider power, water, skills, climate, transport, feedstock variability, infrastructure and local regulatory requirements.
Realistic whole-life costs
Buyers need a clear understanding of purchase, installation, operation, consumables, maintenance and eventual replacement or decommissioning costs.
Support that lasts
Training, warranties, technical assistance, spare parts and maintenance arrangements must be appropriate for the markets being served.
Responsible business practices
We will review the individuals and companies behind each opportunity, including their identity, relevant experience, business standing and ability to deliver.
For AI and digital products, we will also consider data protection, security, reliability, connectivity requirements and the need for human oversight.
Acceptance will depend on proportionate due diligence on both the supplier and the product. A listing will describe the evidence reviewed, intended applications and relevant limitations. Final suitability will still depend on the buyer’s location, requirements and applicable approvals.
More than a product listing
SPWC brings international waste management experience and a network of more than 3,000 warm professional contacts worldwide.
We intend to introduce the Exchange to relevant audiences across government, municipalities, island and remote communities, development organisations, NGOs, operators and the private sector.
Selected opportunities may also receive exposure through:
-
The Circular Worlds podcasts and associated interviews.
-
Targeted introductions to relevant organisations and potential partners.
-
Specialist articles, demonstrations and case studies.
-
Relevant conferences, study tours and professional events.
Our aim is to help buyers understand where an innovation fits, what it requires and what questions to ask before investing.
How the commercial relationship will work
The Exchange is being developed around a commission-led model, with terms agreed individually for each product or service.
Over time, we expect to introduce a modest listing fee to contribute towards maintaining and promoting the marketplace. The principal commercial payment will be an agreed commission on resulting sales.
Commission arrangements will reflect factors such as product value, sales complexity, the support required and SPWC’s role in developing the opportunity. Any additional advisory or market development work will be agreed separately.
Payment will not secure acceptance. Products and suppliers must meet the Exchange’s selection and due diligence requirements.
